Beware! The FDIC has issued several alerts recently regarding fraudulent emails purporting to be from the FDIC. Some of the fraudulent messages appear to be from alert@fdic.gov, subscriptions@fdic.gov and accounts@fdic.gov. Recipients should consider the intent of these emails an attempt to collect personal or confidential information, or to load malicious software onto end-users’ computers.
Please be reminded that the FDIC does not issue unsolicited emails to consumers or business account holders. If you receive an email that appears to be from the FDIC that you are not expecting, do not open it or access the link provided in the body of the message – just delete it or move it to your spam folder.
